JK, Thanks for your excellent work and commitment to providing a truly professional service. I was hesitate to start on this project (Logo, business card, envelope, and letterhead design) while working in a country 7000 miles away, but your dedication and experience provided a seamless and quality design return.

Thanks for being one of those who still continues to take pride and ownership in your work! Well Done.

Pete McGrath
Supervisor of Law Enforcement Programs
Trijicon’s Military & Law Enforcement Division
When the opportunity arose for Trijicon Inc.’s Military and Law Enforcement Division to work with JK to create a custom piece of artwork, we wanted to make sure the image captured the spirit of the men and women who serve while using our products and was an appropriate reflection of our service to them.
JK absolutely exceeded our expectations. His attention to detail, creativity, and continued dialogue with us throughout the process resulted in an image that not only is a credit to our nation’s Military and Law Enforcement professionals but to him as an artist. It has been a pleasure and an honor to work with JK.

Greg Sharp
Founder/Lead Instructor of PDSI TACTICAL
Tactical Drawings was recommended to our group.
I personally found JK to be extremely easy to work with, but more importantly very professional and delivered what he promised. Outstanding work. Our team consists of current and former Special Operations members from both the Military and Law Enforcement. So our species which is probably no different than yours, appreciates someone who delivers first time every time.
JK is a professional and we will use him again.

Sgt. Wayne DuBoi
Director of Operations at Washington State Tactical Officers Association (WSTOA)
When the WSTOA board of directors began talking about a portrait to commemorate our 25th anniversary, I contacted JK, because of his exceptional work, to inquire about the process. We had a basic idea of what we wanted to do, but relied heavily on JK’s expertise in putting a collage together. JK guided me through the process and made it easy, putting our ideas to paper. The piece he completed was done very timely and far exceeded our expectations!
I just wanted to say thanks JK for putting so much effort into our portrait and making it a success!

Lt. Harry D. Ulferts
Dixon Police Department (Ret.)
Our son was killed earlier this year (2010) when someone turned directly in front of him and his motorcycle. My partners and friends at the Dixon Police Department asked Chaplain Kim to prepare a memorial drawing honoring my son’s memory, as well as his service to our country and the communities he served as a police officer. It is a wonderful, beautifully done tribute that my wife and daughter and I will treasure as long as we remember and miss our son and brother.
I wrote to Chaplain Kim to thank him for his efforts on my family’s behalf. His heartfelt and compassionate reply strengthened my opinion of the measure of this good and caring man. He truly uses his artistic talents to serve others.

John M. Harrison PPS, WPPS
Harrison Protection Services
Since meeting JK three years ago, he became an instant friend and mentor. When he showed me his website displaying his drawings, I knew right then and there, that I wanted him to draw me in my tactical equipment.
As a former Recon Marine for the USMC and a DoS, DoD contractor, I have to say on all counts that I was thoroughly impressed with his artistic ability. He was able to capture the true essence of my work in his drawings. His portrayal of me with only using photographs was astounding. He is my friend, shooting partner, and a phenomenal artist whom I would recommend to anyone. I hold him in highest regards.

Sgt. Greg Wozneak
Jamestown, NY
When our SWAT team commander was appointed Chief of Police, our team found it fitting to commemorate his service. We wanted to do something special in appreciation of his dedication and service to the community. Having that in mind, we went to JK and asked for his assistance with a customized tactical drawing. JK was very helpful during the process, and the finished product exceeded all our expectations. We selected a print that we thought was reflective of our team operations, but asked for a couple modifications. JK not only modified the print, but also added other creative elements that we had not expected. He was as detailed as putting our SWAT team’s patch on the sleeve of each of the operators in the print. In fact, this detail was the first thing our commander pointed out, and it gave the print a detailed and personalized appearance.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank JK for all of his assistance. In all our communications, JK was extremely professional and was able to translate our requests into a superior finished product. We also received the customized prints very quickly. I suggest that anyone looking to honor a public safety employee, as we were, look to JK. With JK’s creativity and talent, you can’t go wrong.

Our Special Operations Unit recently contracted Mr. Kim to develop a drawing that captured our unique capabilities. Mr. Kim was able to not only accomplish this, but he exceeded all of our expectations. His attention to detail within the artwork is unmatched and emulates the special operations mantra of “attention to the smallest details”. Mr. Kim’s professionalism and attention to detail is setting the standard for other artists to follow. The artwork that Mr. Kim developed for us has been a huge hit within our community and is proudly displayed in our unit’s common area.

Sgt. Pat Hickcox (Retired)
Founding Board Member of Arizona Tactical Officers Association
When I began the search for someone to design an official logo for the newly formed Arizona Tactical Officers Association, I did not have far to go. I was already familiar and impressed with JK’s artwork. Knowing that JK was a fellow Arizonan and Chaplain for the Pima Regional SWAT Team made my decision even easier.
I had a basic idea of what we were looking for to represent SWAT Operators within the State of Arizona, but let JK work his magic to come up with the appropriate design. When his design was presented to the Board of Directors for approval, we were all impressed, and knew that this was to be the ATOA logo. I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate JK on a job well done and thank him for his professionalism.

Deputy Chris Garcia
Pima County Sheriff’s Department, AZ
My brother recently retired from the Tucson Police Department after twenty-five years of service. I wanted to do something unique and memorable for my brother to celebrate and honor his long and distinguished career. My brother spent more than half of his career as both a motor cop and a tactical operator on the SWAT team. I couldn’t think of a better way to honor my brother than to have JK do a drawing of him, both on his motors and geared up as an operator. Although my brother had done other jobs and assignments in his career, I know that he is most proud of the two that JK depicted in his drawing of him. Thank you JK for helping me honor my brother .

Sgt. Matthew Thomas
Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, AZ
On October 25, 2007, our Multi-Agency SWAT Team in Pinal County, suffered the tragic loss of Sgt. Tate Lynch of the Casa Grande Police Department during a training exercise. As a result of Tate’s death, members of the SWAT Team, members of the Police community, and citizens from the community banded together to ensure that the memory of Sgt. Tate Lynch would live on. The Sgt. Tate Lynch Memorial Fund was formed, and funds have been and continue to be raised in an effort to establish a scholarship fund in Tate’s name. As part of this process, we wanted to create an image of Tate that was a true representation of Tate doing what he loved. It wasn’t long before we knew exactly where we wanted to turn to create this image. Tate was the son of a Tucson Police Officer, and brother of a Pima County Deputy Sheriff. So, it was very fitting for us to turn to a man who worked closely with Tate’s brother, as a Chaplain for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
That is when I contacted Joonho “JK” Kim. I talked to Joonho ‘JK’ Kim about doing one of his infamous drawings. JK knew Tate’s story, and knew the great loss suffered by all when Tate was killed. I asked JK if he would take on doing a drawing of Tate. I explained to JK that we were looking for more than just a drawing, that we wanted to capture the essence of Tate and his special smile while he was doing what we he loved most. I worked with JK, going over photos of Tate, going over the different ideas of positioning, gear, and so much more. When I got the call from JK that the drawing was finished, we were all excited to see the final product.
My teammates and I were very proud to see the final product, as it showed Tate in his full gear, with his great smile, and it captured Tate as we all love to remember him. JK’s drawing was better than we could have ever hoped for, with great detail to attention, and a layout that truly honors Tate’s life as a Police Officer and SWAT Team member. We have presented the picture to Tate’s wife, as well as a copy to the Casa Grande Police Department, and the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. We could not have asked for a better drawing to honor the memory of our fallen brother. Thank you, JK, for your masterpiece.

Sgt. Thomas Laffan
Toms River Police Dept. Emergency Service Unit
I would like to thank you very much for the work you did. The entire family was very impressed and my son loved it. His grandfather who got one of the prints was very proud. He himself is an old soldier who served during the Korean war. My family is very thankful for not only having Tommy home even if only for this short time but for you going out of your way to make sure that we had this print for his homecoming. It means a lot to us and it will be treasured. Again thank you for you timely work and effort for us. It means more than any words can say from an old sergeant.

Sergeant Andy Stradling
Indianapolis Metro SWAT
When it came time to honor a member of our SWAT Team for 30+ years of service, we came to Joonho Kim of Tactical Drawings. JK did a brilliant job of incorporating all the different elements we requested for the portrait. With a combination of an artist’s touch and an excellent knowledge of the police tactical community, the final product exceeded our expectations. I would strongly recommend Tactical Drawings to anyone looking for quality, value, timeliness and a personal touch.

Damian Schlussel, Major
USAF Commander, 27 SOSFS
JK’s talent is only exemplified by his intimate understanding of an “operator”. Easy to work with, eager to please, and an outstanding man of his word. The product he provided to honor the retirement of a 30 year military member had exquisite detail and truly captured the culmination of a successful career. Not only will I use him again in the future, I will actively encourage others to do the same.

It was great working with JK on the artwork he provided. He was accommodating with getting it printed on many different mediums and very responsive to our requests at First Choice Armor. We would definitely utilize his services for tactical life like drawings in the future.

I want to thank you for all your help in finding us the right drawing from your collection to help demonstrate our commitment to defending law enforcement. We also appreciate your assistance in helping to design the shark and the scales of justice that represent our firm’s aggressiveness in defending our clients. We could not have designed our coin without your help! I have received nothing but compliments on the design of our challenge coin. I look forward to working with you in the future and thank you for your support of law enforcement.

Jericho Specialized Entry Training, L.L.C., Owner / Lead Instructor
We found JK through an advertisement in a police magazine (NTOA’s Tactical Edge). We immediately checked his website and judging from the quality of work we saw and the detail it contained, figured he would be far too pricy for our small business. However, we decided to contact him anyway since he was in-state and a chaplain for one of the agencies in Arizona.
During our first contact I learned that JK was not only a chaplain, but a Calvary Chapel Pastor and Brother-in-Christ, too! To our delight the quote we received for our project was within our budget. He even took the time to learn about our business and how the skills we teach can be used in the field, so his work would be as accurate as possible. JK was and has been amazing to work with. From concept to mock-ups to the final drawing everything came together like clockwork. The ease one feels when working with him on a project is only rivaled by the incredible detail in his drawings! The commissioned art we had done was finished on time and at what we consider a very reasonable price. The work is already garnering positive comments from all who see it. JK comes with our complete recommendation.

Lt. Phil Hansen
Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, Special Enforcement Bureau
The spring of 2008 marked the 50th Anniversary of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB). In preparation for the SEB 50th Anniversary celebration, we contacted Joonho Kim and asked that he create a drawing to memorialize the event. Joonho’s task was not an easy one. SEB is a unique Bureau housing three distinct Details, each contributing specialized skills to the overall SEB SWAT response.
Joonho was asked to portray all three individual Details, working as members of the larger unit in this single work of art. He was also forced to work under a strict deadline so the drawing could be viewed by present and past SEB members at our anniversary celebration. Joohno Kim was prompt and professional throughout the entire process. He worked very hard to meet our expectations and the result is a beautiful and exceptionally detailed work of art that accurately portrays LASD/SEB engaged in a variety of SWAT scenarios that include the use of canine and air rescue assets. Joonho was always open to suggestion; he delivered on all his promises and was a pleasure to work with. I would gladly recommend Joohno Kim to any tactical team that is considering art to commemorate their work.

Gayle Staffiere
Foster-Miller Inc./QinetiQ North America
I have recently had the pleasure of dealing with JK on what I hope to be the first of many projects to come. With photo input and verbal instruction from our technicians JK was able to create an incredible image of our Talon robot with a San Francisco SWAT team in a real life situation that would be nearly impossible to capture any other way.
As a Commercial and Graphic artist myself I was greatly impressed with his attention to detail. It’s the accuracy of such details as those in the robots tread and the officers gear that give the black and white drawing its impact. Thank you JK for a job well done.

Detective Brad Dorr
Madera County Narcotic Enforcement Team (MADNet)
In 2008 I took over the Marijuana eradication program for the County of Madera. As an agent assigned to the Madera County Narcotic Enforcement Team it has been my responsibility to locate and investigate the secreted marijuana gardens within the county, and prosecute the illegal Drug Trafficking Organizations who are responsible. It was also my responsibility to coordinate the use of different agencies and the utilization of our regional SWAT Team to assist in the ingress to the gardens along with eradication. As a result, we more than doubled the highest seizures ever recorded in our county, and unfortunately making marijuana the top producing agricultural crop in Madera county, exceeding Almonds by more than 16 million dollars.
As a result, I wanted to reward all of the people that helped make the marijuana season a success by making a t-shirt from one of JK’s drawings and giving a shirt to everyone that helped. As a member of NTOA, I contacted JK to make a drawing that depicted several aspects of our operations, the Short Hauls by helicopter and the SWAT members clearing a marijuana garden. JK was a pleasure to work with and was instrumental in coming up with a drawing that everyone was ecstatic about. JK was patient and constantly accepted our input that resulted in the final revision. His artwork is so outstanding and detailed and truly depicts the “Operators”. It was an absolute pleasure to work with him and I intend on utilizing him in the future. I recommend if you haven’t talked or worked with him, you are missing out. Thanks JK. God has truly blessed you!

Dr. Richard H. Carmona
17th Surgeon General of the United States
Having a unique perspective with a history as a military special “operator”, I believe ‘JK’, in his drawings, has repeatedly and eloquently captured the essence and culture of our brave operators.

John Gnagey
NTOA Executive Director
Dear Mr. Kim,
I want to thank you for the excellent drawing you provided to the NTOA. You drawing has been digitized and will be the drawing NTOA uses on our 2008 Hostage Negotiator shirts and the first ever NTOA Hostage Negotiator Challenge Coin. Thank you again and we look forward to working with you in the future.

Lt. Don Kester
The Commander of the Pima Regional SWAT Team
Joonho who was a former South Korean army soldier has a unique perspective of the SWAT community due to being a chaplain for our Sheriff’s Department as well as the chaplain for our Regional SWAT Team. As a result his drawings emphasize the fine detail and insight into the daily grind of a SWAT operator.

Sgt. Ti Goetz

Hawthorne PD SWAT Team
The Hawthorne Police SWAT team was recently hosting a SWAT get-to-gether for past members who had served on the team over the years. In order to show our gratitude, we wanted to give them a memento that would remind them of their years on the team. While looking through a tactical magazine, we saw the advertisement for tactical drawings and visited the website. After viewing the work we were impressed enough to send Joonho Kim an e-mail with some follow up questions.
JK was extremely quick to respond and answered all of our questions with ease. Our emails soon went to phone calls and in a very short time we worked out what basic photograph we wanted. We then requested a number of changes to the photograph so that it more closely fit the look of our own team. In a testament to his professionalism, JK quickly agreed and offered to do it for what can only be described as a “cut rate” price. In a very short time JK mailed us the requested number of copies, detailed exactly as we had requested. We framed his drawings and passed them out at the get-to-gether, much to the delight of all who received them. We have nothing but positive things to say about JK and his work. For anyone looking for tactical drawings, we would highly recommend JK and “TacticalDrawings.com”!

Craig Sipple
Sniper, Upland PD SWAT
Joonho Kim is a man with an extraordinary talent. He uses his God given talent to put together drawings depicting what S.W.A.T. teams do on an everyday basis. I am an extremely satisfied customer of his and will use him for future drawings. His attention to detail is one of a kind (even down to the 5 o’clock shadow).
Thank you, Joonho!!
